2-Picolinic Acid (CAS: 98-98-6) is a derivative of pyridine with a carboxylic acid (COOH) substituent at the 2-position. It is an isomer of nicotinic acid and isonicotinic acid, which have the carboxyl side chain at the 3- and 4-position, respectively. 2-Picolinic Acid is used as a chelate for alkaline earth metals. Used to prepare picolinato ligated transition metal complexes. In synthetic organic chemistry, has been used as a substrate in the Mitsunobu reaction and in the Hammick reaction. 2-Picolinic Acid is an important intermediate in organic synthesis, which is widely used in the preparation of Carbocaine and nerve drugs in the pharmaceutical industry, as well as in nerve inhibition and local anesthesia; 2-Picolinic Acid is an essential raw material for the synthesis of various 2-Picolinic Acid Salts.
